We launched this campaign to do good things for New Hampshire, not just win an office. Well, I can't think of a better thing to do for our District and state right now than urging the NH senate to let the largest economic development project in a generation to move forward.
The reasons for rail are simple. According to a comprehensive studyconducted by the NH Department of Transportation, extending rail from the MA border to Nashua, MHT, and Manchester will add 5,600 permanent jobs, 3,390 construction jobs, and $750 million in real estate development, while serving roughly 700,000 riders per year. The projected cost to NH is just $5-10 million per year. Fully 74% of Granite Staters support the project and 13% oppose.
Unless we can motivate 1-2 more Republican senators to join their colleague Sen. Avard and the 10 Democrats, rail will be stopped in its tracks. Our opponent Councilor Wheeler has already voted down rail, ignoring the advice of NHDOT, Chambers of Commerce, and leading businesses -- not to mention young people in need of good jobs and thousands of daily commuters stuck in traffic. Please join me in contacting the following priority senators or contact the full list of senators here.
